Regina Jeffries Memorial At 13th And Franklin Oakland After Shooting
This makeshift memorial was set up by those in morning of the death of Regina Jeffries, just 16 years old, and innocently caught in the middle of a dice game that turned ugly. And that happened in the backdrop of a vigil held for someone else at 13th and Franklin. I talked with one young man who knew Regina and he asked when would the killing stop? For me we can't get the guns off the street soon enough.

Ben Fairlow, who was just appointed Interim Oakland Police Chief last Friday by Mayor Libby Schaaf, was fired from that post on Wednesday, today. That is Fairlow at last week's press conference answering a question about yet another Oakland Police Officer wrongful death scandal. According to reports on Twitter, BART officials reported that Fairlow had an affair with a "consenting adult" while he was married and this happened a decade ago. This new news rankled Mayor Schaaf who released him and is now in search of an interim person. Maybe this time she will pick a black cop.

Oakland Raiders Las Vegas NFL Stadium Plan Hides Revenue From SNTIC - Part 2
As a follow up to my first video, the SNTIC document posts sources and uses for the Oakland Raiders Las Vegas Stadium only for for categories. The entry on page 4 only lists public funding, PSLs, NFL G4, Raiders Contribution, and Las Vegas Sands. But it does not list luxury suites or naming rights or parking revenues to total $1.4 billion. That is wrong. The back pages do not break out the total multiyear revenues for luxury boxes over a 30 or 40 year period. So we always has the same problem. Plus, there is no place where the estimates would be used to lower the $750 million public funding ask. In closing the SNTIC will not recommend $750 million. As I have said before they will recommend a stadium but not at that high a public price. I have also shared my stadium spreadsheet with the SNTIC as of today, as a way of providing some help. Stay tuned.

The Oakland Public Ethics Commission has elected to examine how tickets are used by Oakland Councilmembers. My suspicion is that one of the members of the commission is upset they didn't get tickets to a Warriors NBA playoffs game. I asked that question of the executive director of the organization but she did not answer it. Instead she pointed to their newly gained power as of 2014. Not good. The fact is that the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda own the Coliseum Complex. As far as I am concerned the elected officials should have all access passes! The officials got to where they are by hard work. Let them reap some benefit of that. I am sick and tired of some trying to squash ambition of others because they themselves are too scared to go out and reach and aspire to something bigger than themselves. I am also tired of people who don't want to be in politics or have respect for elected officials. Enough is enough.
